November 7-11

Thursday:

  • Re-read Chapter 1 of Skinnybones. (If possible - students should read aloud to someone at home for this novel unit rather than reading to themselves. This is a cute story that students typically enjoy sharing with someone. Please do not read ahead because we have some predicting activities to do. Students have a log to get signed after each chapter is re-read at home. Log will be due at the end of the novel unit.)
Monday is the beginning of 2nd trimester. Report cards will go home next Friday.

Tuesday - Wednesday:
  • Reading Minutes due THURSDAY.
  • We have begun a unit on idioms. Parents - please help your child identify and discuss the meaning of idioms as you use them in your everyday conversations.

Monday:
  • We will have a quiz in a tomorrow on: complete subject & predicate, simple subject & predicate, 4 types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory), and complete/incomplete sentences, synonyms & antonyms. Reviews can be found on previous workbook pages and also at BrainPOP. (There are four to watch: Types of Sentences, Subject/Predicate, Sentence Fragments, Antonyms, Synonyms, & Homonyms.) We have watched them at school, but they are a great review. Our subscription to BrainPOP expires at 4:00 each day.)
  • Reading Minutes due THURSDAY.
